Surya Gurung

By profession, I was a teacher with more than 25 years experience in teaching field. I met an American Biologist, Dr. R. DeCandido during his autumn migration count of Steppe Eagle and other raptors at Paudur Hill (also called Khare) in 1999. I became immensely interested in watching raptors and counting annually the migratory raptors from Paudur Hill owing to Dr. R. DeCandido's insights and inspiration. In spring 2003, I participated in an internship program at Hawk Mountain Sanctury, PA, USA, and studied about raptor migration, counting and monitoring. Since the internship program, I have been counting and monitoring raptors at Paudur Hill bird watch site. In fall 2005, I volunteered for Hawk Watch International as a Hawk Counter at Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA. Presently, I have enlisted several other people to help me with raptor migration counting and monitoring, conservation and their protection.
