Pernis ptilorhyncus

Additional details on Breeding :

Breeding phenology:

Russia: Eggs are laid in late May to June (Flint 1984).

Philippines: Nests and eggs not documented in the Philippines, but a bird (sex?) with enlarged gonads was recorded in April (Kennedy et al. 2000).

Malay Peninsula: Wells (1999) notes that no nests had been recorded, but courtship displays, indicating breeding territories, had been seen on 23 February and 28 May (Wells 1999). A pair started nest building at the Royal Perak Golf Club, Ipoh, Perak, on 16 October 2007, but abandoned the nest 10 days later and moved to another site on the golf course (Soon 2008). Copulation was observed on 7 November 2007.

Sabah: A pair was seen flying back and forth between two tall trees near Sukau on 3 August 1983, one of which contained a large nest, but it was uncertain if the pair was using it (Sheldon et al. 2001).
