   Biography

I'm currently a PhD student at Princeton University studying movement, habitat use, and behavior of scavenging raptors in East Africa. I'm particularly interested in using research and education to achieve conservation goals.

   Research Interests

I'm broadly interested in interactions between human activities and wildlife. For my PhD dissertation, I have used transects, behavioral observations, and GSM-GPS telemetry to assess the influence of human activities on the avian scavenger guild in East Africa. This work has focused on the six species of vulture and two scavenging eagles that inhabit Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. I have also worked on issues of human-wildlife conflict, particularly hippopotamus crop-raiding.

Species of Interest:
  • Egyptian Vulture
  • Hooded Vulture
  • White-backed Vulture
  • Rüppell's Vulture
  • Lappet-faced Vulture
  • White-headed Vulture
  • Bateleur
  • Tawny Eagle
