Gustavo Sebastian Cabanne

   Biography

Gustavo Sebastián Cabanne was born in 1974 (Buenos Aires) and grew up in the province of Misiones, Argentina. Misiones is covered by Atlantic rain forest biome, an aspect that permitted Gustavo to start observing and studying forest bird since he was very young. Living in contact with that biome also interested him in nature conservation, because the Atlantic forest is a highly endangered biome. In 2001 he got his Biology degree at the University of Misiones and in 2002 he moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil, to start his graduated studies in Biology-Genetic at the University of Sao Paulo. In 2004 he finished his MSc and started his PhD course. Currently, his main project is focalized on the biogeography and evolutionary biology of population of selected Atlantic forest passerines. Other projects he is participating in are the study of the reproduction biology of some birds of prey at the southeastern Brazil and Argentina, especially Accipiter erythronemius and Harpagus diodon, the study of the bird community of the Yabotí Biosphera Reserve in Misiones, and the biogeographic analysis of some passerines in eastern South America.
