Onder Cirik

I was born in 1979 and graduated from Icel Anatolian High School in 1998. I studied business, economy & accounting in the university of Ege in Izmir, Turkey. I was the founder and administrator of Ege University Birdwatching Club for 5 years and participated in many birding projects of DHKD-former Birdlife Partner in Turkey. In spring 2004 I was accepted for Hawk Mountain Sanctuary's internship program and was trained for 4 months in PA, USA about raptors, satellite tracking and environmental education of kids on birds of prey. After I came back to Turkey, I was hired by Doga Dernegi-Birdlife Turkey and have been working for Doga Dernegi for almost one year. I am giving talks, presentation and trainings about raptors, raptor conservation and raptor migration in Turkey. I wrote an article about raptor migration at the strait of Bosphorus 2005 and was accepted to IV. Asian Raptor Sympoisum by ARRCN and prsented this paper in October 2005. I still carry out trainings, organize hawk counts and am interested in traditional sparrowhawk falconry in north-eastern Turkey. We are planning to start full time counts at Bosphorus, Belen Pass and Borcka and besides as Doga Dernegi we are looking for funding for establishing Raptor Migration Research and Visitor centers in Turkey.
